Toronto Section Winter Events:

Winter 2004 2005

Attention: ACC Toronto Section Trip/Activities Co-ordinators/Leaders & Bon Echo Hut Custodians

All Section trip leaders and Bon Echo Hut custodians, for their own protection and for the protection of the Club, must get all Section event participants to sign the Club's standard Release of Liability, Waiver of All Possible Claims, and Assumption of Risk ("The Release"). The Release is available for download from both the Section website (http://climbers.org/section/events.html) and from the National Club website (http://www.alpineclubofcanada.ca/activities/waivers.html).

  • The trip leader/custodian should fill in the activity description and date on the Release and then obtain the signature of each prospective participant.
  • A participant must read and understand the Release before signing, and should do so before the activity commences.
  • The participant cannot change any terms of the Release.
  • It is preferred that the witness is an Alpine Club member and not related to the participant.
  • If a participant refuses to sign the Release or insists on changes to it before signing, he/she cannot be allowed to participate in the activity.
  • The procedure to be followed for minors participating in a Section activity is to insert the minor's name on the Release and the name of the parent or on-site guardian for the minor's attendance at the event, and have the parent/guardian sign on the minor's behalf.
  • After the Section activity, it is your responsibility as leader/custodian to mail the completed Releases to the Section's treasurer:
    ACC Toronto Section Treasurer
    50 Arundel Avenue
    Toronto, ON M4K 3A1
or drop them off to the Treasurer's attention at The Rock Oasis climbing gym.

ACC Events Disclaimer

Please note that ACC climbing events are NOT instructional.

These outings & trips are social events for climbers with outdoor climbing experience to meet partners & try out some new routes. While participants do not have to be competent leaders, they must be able to belay a leader & clean a route OR they must be able to safely & securely set up a top rope, and competently belay a climber on top rope. Climbing gear will not be provided. Trip leaders will do their best to arrange car pooling for those that require a ride, otherwise it may be possible to find a ride through the Bulletin Board at "climbers.org".

Participants in ACC outdoor activities are required to be ACC members in good standing. Everyone is required to read and sign the ACC's standard release and waiver of liability before participating.

Release forms are available from the ACC National Club Waivers Page.
